REFLEXIONS of a DYSLEXIC MIND - the MIND of one born to a TIME of rationing and austerity - which was subsequently nurtured by family, friends and the experience of an early education in North London at the time of the conquering of everest and the Coronation of a New Queen.Reflexions of only having read one book of fiction prior to taking my eleven plus examination to gain entrance to Borehamwood Grammar School - and subsequently achieving enough GCE "O" & "A" level examination passes to be accepted by the Ministry of Aviation as an Air Traffic Control Cadet - thus obtaining the so called yellow peril and subsequently getting married to my long-term partner and soul-mate. Reflexions of a 20 year career in Air Traffic Control which started with a familiarisation of computer systems based on an IBM 64K Core Store Mainframe - the size of a block of flats - and spanned operational experience at London Radar/Heathrow, Southern Radar at RAF Sopley, Eurocontrol - Brussels, Luxembourg, Beek - and finally West Drayton as an Area Radar Controller and Flow Controller - before leaving Air Traffic to become a director of Acorn Video whose systems were based on the BBC 32K Microcomputer. ALL of which happened before realising that I was dyslexic, whilst talking to a left-handed dyslexic female designer of a Silicon Graphics CGI Workstation, who advised that I read Thomas West's IN THE MIND's EYE. I purchased my first of many copies and cried my eyes out reading it on my return flight to the UK across 'the pond' - because Thomas West IS dyslexic himself and his words were descriptive of a complete [RE]flexion of my own MIND's EYE. I was subsequently involved with the establishment of an exhibition at the Pall Mall Galleries in London, for the promotion of DYSLEXIC ART and Thomas West was in attendance thoughout the event. The reality of the global situation with which the nations of our species - individually and collectively - have been faced since the night, over 40 years ago, when I was being interviewed by the Special Branch about the circumstances of the previous day's failed attempt of an EL AL hi-jacking by Leila Khaled and her Black September colleague - has been one of continuously deteriorating trust on behalf of the peoples of those nations in THEY who have chosen not to discuss the issues and consequences of that fateful few days other than insisting on maintaining THEIR own self serving status quo as the basis of "the solution" to "the problem". Elza Maalouf's framework for decoding the complexities of the Middle East succeeds in many places where the West's approach to conflict resolution has failed. By weaving together the threads that make up the pattern of each culture, her epistle to humankind - EMERGE! The Rise of Functional Democracy and the Future of he Middle East - DOES INDEED show the crucial role memes play in creating a system of governance that truly fits. Not only does EMERGE! ask us to seek understanding before we structure and create what Elza Maalouf calls, Functional Democracy, it shows us the necessity of teaching our youth to build their own sustainable indigenous constructs - a concept which particular strikes a chord, from the perspective of my being a left-handed, dyslexic, 3 dimensional thinker, who has learned to live in the world of the lexics.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1126669807361269Emerge!: The Rise of Functional Democracy and the Future of the Middle EastMindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformationhttp://www.amazon.com/Dyslexic-Advantage-Unlocking-Hidden-Potential/dp/0452297923/
